2025 marks the 75th year since the forming of an interior systems construction employers association serving Ottawa and Outaouais region. In 2025 we celebrate this banner year and invite our partners and colleagues to celebrate along with us - Building the City! and Building the Community.
About the walls and ceilings contractors association
Our History
The association, originally the Ottawa Lathing, Plastering and Acoustical Contractors Association, originated in 1950 and was formed to deal with emerging labour relations issues and to discuss mutual problems and concerns of the industry while exploring solutions for the industry and promoting our members businesses to the public.
The organization changed its name to the Walls and Ceilings Contractors Association (WACCA) in 1976 and has been involved in labour relations and collective agreement negotiations to this day. WACCA members are signatory to 4 collective agreements in the ICI and residential construction sectors.
Our Work
WACCA is governed by an active Board of Directors and led by a 31 year industry veteran Executive Director who manages the day to day activity of the association. Serving an area including the City of Ottawa proper, Townships of Winchester and Williamsburgh in Dundas County, Carleton County, United counties of Prescott, Glengarry, Russell and Stormont.
The area is recognized generally by the Ontario Labour Relations Board as Board Area 15. WACCA represents members at the bargaining table, supports the local community and participates in provincial bargaining as needed for labour agreements with both the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners and the Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons International Association.
